Industry: Gourmet Kitchen + Gift Store in McPherson, KS

The Cook's Nook is a gourmet kitchenware, food, and gift shop on Main Street in McPherson, Kansas, proudly serving central Kansas since 1988. What started as a small kitchen store has grown into a beloved destination for home cooks, gift shoppers, newlyweds building their registries, and food lovers looking for their next favorite olive oil. The store carries everything from Le Creuset and Wüsthof to gourmet coffees, cooking classes, and an on-tap oil and vinegar bar. It's the kind of place where you walk in for a spatula and leave with a full bag and a cooking class on the calendar.

This is also where Simply Lynn's Creative began. The Cook's Nook is our family's store. I grew up behind the counter, learning retail from the inside out, and every strategy, design decision, and Shopify solution she brings to clients today was tested here first. That makes this more than a case study. It's the foundation for everything SLC does.

When it came time to bring The Cook's Nook into the modern retail landscape, we went all in. The store was operating on old-fashioned cash registers managing 6,000+ SKUs with no online presence and no email marketing strategy. We built a complete brand identity, designed and launched a full Shopify website with integrated POS to unify online and in-store operations, architected a collection structure and navigation system built to make 6,000+ products browsable and shoppable, and set up Klaviyo email marketing foundations to turn foot traffic into repeat online customers. We also built out custom functionality including wedding registry services, cooking class registration, and curated gift bundles, all managed directly through Shopify.

This wasn't a one-and-done project. The Cook's Nook is an ongoing partnership and the real-world testing ground where we refine strategies, experiment with new Shopify features, and stay deeply connected to day-to-day retail operations. Every client project benefits from what we learn here.
